The Hamilton Fire Department is always looking for dedicated volunteers. The department requires no previous experience and will provide all new members with the proper training through local and NY State sponsored training courses. HFD has positions available for Interior Structural Firefighters, Drivers, Scene Support Personnel and Fire Police members. Emergency Medical Training is available but is not required. Drivers must hold a valid drivers license and be 21 years of age.

Those people wishing to become members of the Hamilton Fire Department and Fountain Fire Company #1 (FFCo#1) must:
1) Be a resident of the Hamilton Fire Protection District -or- have had at least one year of full time employment inside the Hamilton Fire Protection District, and have the ability to respond to alarms while at work -or- a full time Colgate student. 
2)  Must be willing to complete a New York State basic training course (appropriate to the job that they wish to perform) within 2 years of membership.
3) Not have any prior convictions for Arson.
4) Follow FFCo#1 bylaws (Minimum yearly hours of training, meeting attendance, and participation in fundraising activities, etc.

Fountain Fire Company #1 holds regular business meetings on the first Monday of every month starting at 7:00pm and local training is held every Wednesday evening starting at 7:00pm
