Advice/Memory: “Enjoy the time there, it flies by. Learn as much as you can from those in the department, and take advantage of learning from the people in town. Get out of the Colgate bubble when you can, take some trainings around the county and meet other firefighters and learn from them as well. Have fun, and keep the fireballs outside of the apartments.“

Advice/Memory:
“Too many stories to write here! (Adam Pratt is the better storyteller anyway)
Advice:
- Spend as much time as you can studying, training, working out etc at the station, especially underclassmen, I missed out on a good number of calls my first year and a half by being "stranded" up the hill. Having reliable classmates with you on tons of calls really builds the sense of brotherhood/friendship and you work better as a team as well.
- Set up training among the students, or workouts in the barn etc. Know everything in every truck. Practice skills when you can, hit that front yard hydrant every one in a while, throw up a ladder etc
- keep a good schedule for shaving your beard if necessary. Trust me, everyone from our department to 3rd alarm mutual aid people let me hear it if I didn't“
